Might the Anti Smoking Law in England Drive Bingo Players On to the Web?

An abundance has been talked in the press just a while ago regarding the bingo industry being hurt as a result of the cigarette ban in Britain. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge aid to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. But can the internet adaptation of this quintessential game present a salvation, or might it not compare to its land based relative?

Bingo is an enduring game historically enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game lately had witnessed a recent comeback in popularity with younger people opting to hit the bingo parlors instead of the bars on a Saturday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the enforcement of the smoking ban throughout Britain.

No more will enthusiasts be able to smoke while marking off their numbers. From the summer of ‘07 every public location will not be allowed to permit smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most common areas where folks like to puff on cigarettes.

The outcome of the anti cigarette law can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already banned in the bingo halls. Profits have dropped and the business is literally fighting for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Of course they haven’t given up on this familiar game?

The answer is on the internet. Players know that they can participate in bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a beverage and fag and in the end, enjoy monstrous cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti smoking law.

Of course gambling on online can never replace the social part of going down to the bingo hall, but for a group of people the governing edicts have left a good many bingo enthusiasts with no alternative.
