Can the Smoking Ban in Britain Take Bingo Players On to the Internet?

Much has been stated in the press recently concerning the bingo industry singing the blues as a result of the anti cigarette law in England. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for big aid to assist in keeping the industry afloat. But will the internet version of this quintessential game provide a salvation, or will it in no way compare to its real life opposite?

Bingo is an enduring game usually enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. However the game lately had undergone a recent resurgence in appeal with younger people deciding to visit the bingo parlours in place of the bars on a weekend. All this is about to be destroyed with the introduction of the anti smoking law all over Britain.

No more will players be able to puff on cigarettes while marking numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public areas will not be allowed to permit cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favorite places where folks enjoy smoking.

The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already forbidden in the bingo halls. Numbers have plummeted and the business is beyond a doubt struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Certainly they have not cast aside this established game?

The answer is on the internet. Gamblers are now realizing that they can play bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a cocktail and smoke and in the end, enjoy big jackpots. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself just about perfectly with the anti cigarette law.

Of course wagering on on the net is unlikely to replace the collective aspect of going over to the bingo hall, but for a group of men and women the governing edicts have left a good many bingo enthusiasts with no option.
